PALLIATIVE CARE
To improve the living conditions of the patient whose stage of cancer is advanced.

Why ?
Cancer treatment is exhausting financially, physically and morally for both the patient and his family and loved ones. After several rounds of treatments or surgical interventions,cancer may not be controlled and thus cause several other complications such as failure of treatment, recurrence or permanent weakening of the general condition of the patient. For some cases, often those diagnosed late, the treatment must be stopped and a process of accompaniment is initiated to make the rest of the patient's days, worthy and less painful.
Palliative care does not treat cancer, but it only helps to relieve pain and other symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, lack of appetite, anxiety, chronic stress, etc. They accompany and help the patient and his family to make the most of the remaining time of life.
The reality in our country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, is that most cancer patients are poor, have a late diagnosis of cancer and often find themselves without financial means to access various palliative care. Thus, the Bomoko Foundation is particularly interested in this aspect of treatment in order to pursue three main objectives:
- Accompany the patient through pain, psychological and spiritual care to relieve suffering and improve his quality of life;
- Involve the family, friends and relatives of the patient to support and surround him with love and consideration throughout the patient's last struggle by explaining to them the importance of this family warmth and the positive influence that will have this last.
Who benefits?
The patient in the foreground and in the background, the people who accompany him (usually his family)
Palliative care: where and how?
With the agreement of the doctor and the family, the patient can benefit from palliative care either in the hospital or at home according to the prescriptions.
At the hospital:
Our medical partners will provide the necessary care and support to improve the patient's quality of life.
Home :
Our volunteer doctors will go to the patient to provide him with the necessities and provide pain relief, food and hygiene kits to the patient.
