ABOUT BOMOKO
The Bomoko Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to contribute to the reduction of cancer mortality in the DRC. It focuses on five types of cancer: breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer and childhood leukemia. Its headquarters are located in « croisement des avenues des Marais et Colonel Ebeya no. 694 in the Cassiopée Gallery ».
In order to reach our objectives we work on 3 axes of intervention which are :
• Promote knowledge and popularization of information related to the five types of cancer: Maximizing on the availability of news articles, scientific discoveries and other documentation related to Cancer in our virtual and physical centers; promoting meetings around a monthly theme; organizing an annual walk and mass and small group awareness campaigns.
• Make access to cancer diagnosis (screening) accessible: In partnership with diagnostic centers in order to offer slightly revised prices so that we can make them accessible to the small population in a free (sponsored) way and by showing benefits of an annual check-up.
• Orient towards optimal treatment and assist patients: By collaborating closely with oncologists and health centers doctors to make available to the population a document presenting the best treatments, their cost for all levels of life - from the least dear to the most expensive, but all effective and accessible but also accompanying sick people interned in hospitals or home treatment with donations in goods and money.

B. Cancer survivors
- WHY WE KEEP YOUR STORY TO CHANGE MENTALITIES?
Because :
› Advances and social representations of the disease have not progressed at the same pace as therapeutic progress.
› Cancer remains a highly stigmatized disease, which is the source of many social discriminations.
› Cancer is not just life in the hospital. It is also a family life, professional, social, totally up-and-down, overnight that will never be more like before.
› Cancer affects the different relationships around us and even the image that we can bring to ourselves and to life.
- WHY SHOULD I SHARE MY STORY THROUGH BOMOKO COMMUNITY?
Because your story could:
› Encourage as many people as possible to get tested early to maximize the chances of recovery; › To other cancer patients who, until now, suffer in silence, send a message of hope, and incite them to break the silence. › Address a strong message to employers, family members and relatives about the treatment and support of patients from the discovery of the disease to therapy. .
